Author Prize by the EAPC in Collaboration with Advances in Palliative Medicine
The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), in collaboration with ‘Advances in Palliative Medicine’ (APM) is happy to announce the winner of the posted Author Prize
The prize goes to Anna Kieszkowska-Grudny for the following paper:
Role of psychological and emotional factors in cancer related fatigue (CRF) syndrome in advanced NSCLC patients undergoing palliative chemotherapy

The paper was published in the 3/2010 issue of the Advances in Palliative Medicine
The prize (free registration, accommodation and return economy flight to enable the winner to attend the 12th congress of the European Association for Palliative Care which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal on May 18 - 21, 2011) will be claimed by the second author Jacek Grudny.
The selection process and requirements which had to be fulfilled by the applicants were as follows:
- The reward will be offered to the author (or lead author) of the published paper which in the opinion of the editorial board (Editor-in-Chief: Małgorzata Krajnik, Vice Editors: Zbigniew Zylicz, Ewa Jassem, Tony O'Brien, Katalin Hegedus) makes the greatest contribution to the specialty area of palliative care including symptom management, education, psychological, spiritual and ethical problems.
- The competition is restricted to specialist colleagues working in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
- All submitted articles will be submitted for peer review. Manuscripts accepted for publication in ‘Advances in Palliative Medicine’ must be original and must not have been published or submitted for publication in whole or in part elsewhere.
- ‘Advances in Palliative Medicine’ will be pleased to review original work on any aspect related to palliative care.
- Papers with multiple authors will be accepted but the prize will only be offered to the lead author.
- Original papers up to 2,500 words will be accepted.
- The prize is not transferable and can only be applied for the purpose of attending the EAPC congress as described above.
- Editorial Board members of ‘Advances in Palliative Medicine’ are not eligible to participate in this competition.
- The decision of the editorial board of ‘Advances in Palliative Medicine’ is final and no correspondence will be entertained. The winner will be announced by 15th January 2011.
